What does a typical day in the life of a Senior Associate look like?
I engage with clients in the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in strategic planning and enhancing operational performance, specifically in the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). On a daily basis, I collaborate with my team to implement technological solutions for performance management within the IT sector. As a data technology specialist, I use business intelligence platforms to perform data modeling and analysis and transform client data sets into insightful visualizations and reports. I then provide dashboard demos for clients and help them implement these technologies to facilitate decision making in the future. In addition to client work, I am involved in WBD’s Intellectual Capital Group (ICG) which generates valuable content for our clients. I recently wrote an article on Business Intelligence Tools.

What do you like best about working at WBD?
At WBD, you’re not just a number – every employee brings unique value to the firm and our work is recognized. WBD has a strong collaborative team dynamic, and everyone is always willing to help each other on projects. I like that employees are encouraged to learn and grow, and there are endless opportunities to do so at this firm. I feel lucky to be a part of such an intelligent and inventive team of individuals.
How do you think current teleworking will impact the future of work?
I think current teleworking will completely change the future of the workforce. Companies are realizing that they can still successfully operate remotely, and many will likely remain fully or partially remote moving forward. I think the increased flexibility that teleworking provides combined with less time and money spent commuting, ultimately contributes to happier and more productive employees. In addition to improving work-life balance, teleworking increases opportunities for both employers and employees. Teleworking allows employers to expand their talent pool and employees to broaden their job options. Advanced platforms and collaborative tools now provide a variety of team members from all over the world with increased opportunities to come together. However, increased telework comes with some challenges—especially less face-to-face interaction. Companies may need to discover ways to keep their employees connected as much as possible to boost morale and maintain relationships among team members.
Which of WBD’s core values resonates with you most and why?
WBD emphasizes entrepreneurial spirit which makes it a perfect place for someone who is early on in their career. Leadership encourages you to take initiative in finding opportunities to learn and develop and really enables you to challenge yourself. When I first started with the firm, I was encouraged to learn Microsoft Power BI, a skill I was completely unfamiliar with. I spent time individually taking online classes and watching tutorials, and now the tool is something I use daily! WBD gives you all the tools you need to succeed, but you get to decide the extent of your own professional growth.
What’s been you most memorable moment at WBD so far?
Our company’s first in-person social event after COVID was my most memorable moment at WBD. It was cool to see everyone finally interact outside of a Teams call and just reinforced how great the company culture is.
What motivates you?
I am motivated by a challenge. If I run into an issue on a project, I will have my mind set on solving that problem. I am also results-oriented, so I like to set specific goals and strategize a plan to accomplish them. I think it is important to know that my work provides a benefit to someone else, so I find it very rewarding when a finished product elicits positive feedback from a client.
What do you do outside of work?
Outside of work I love traveling, hiking, and watching sports (Go Browns). I am also a major foodie—I enjoy exploring new restaurants in the city, making sushi, and writing nacho reviews!
What advice do you have for new WBD employees?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Everyone at WBD is very approachable and wants to see each other succeed. You can always learn something new from someone else if you just ask!
